In 1780, Yorktown, Virginia was a very important part of the American Revolution. Cornwallis, the commander of the British  army, stated that he was getting quite annoyed  following Nathaniel Greene and the continental army around the state.

One part of the continental army was up north, and one part was holding the south. In the South, there are natural resources  such as the cotton fields to make clothing for the soldiers.

But that’s when every thing changed. George Washington decided to stop Cornwallis. As they were up North pretending that they were going to attack Clinton to keep the British Army in their position but were really going for Cornwallis who was down south, and once Clinton realized they had tricked them, they had to catch them.

Then, when the French ships stopped them at the Chesapeake Bay, we had all the British army at one point and we were coming from the south, the north, and the east.

This is where our nation fought the last big battle in the American Revolution and won!
